Petropars Pushes Ahead With Phase 11 Drilling to Sustain South Pars Output

Petropars Group has moved beyond its contractual obligations at South Pars Phase 11, launching drilling of a 13th well on Platform B as Iran seeks to shore up gas production and ease shortages. CEO Hamidreza Saghafi said the extra well is intended to help maintain output at the shared field.

The 32-inch and 24-inch sections have already been drilled to 186 and 933 meters over 15 days. Drilling is now focused on the 16-inch hole at a depth of 1,010 meters.

The announcement came as Petropars completed the platform’s 12th well, drilled to more than 4,400 meters at a 65-degree angle. Perforation in reservoirs K1 through K4 was carried out in two TCP stages, with petrophysical data from nearby wells used to improve precision.

More than 190,000 gallons of 32% hydrochloric acid were then injected in 20 stages, using an acid-diverting agent designed for the well’s temperature and pressure conditions to spread the treatment evenly across the perforated interval.
