Iran’s acting oil minister, Hamid Bovard, used the eighth Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) summit in Moscow on Tuesday (October 27) to press for closer energy cooperation with Qatar, meeting Qatari Energy Minister Saad bin Sherida Al-Kaabi for talks on expanding bilateral ties.
Bovard highlighted Iran’s strategic proposals for the GECF and urged the forum’s members—especially major gas producers and exporters—to cooperate effectively in a bid to strengthen convergence and broaden both bilateral and multilateral dialogue.
The Moscow meeting follows an earlier trip by Bovard to Doha, where he also stressed the need to develop energy relations and cooperation between the two countries.
The eighth GECF summit brought together heads of member states and senior representatives in Moscow, giving participants a platform to review strategic issues facing the gas industry and to strengthen cooperation among countries that produce and export the fuel.
