Iran Accelerates South Pars Repairs Ahead of Winter Gas Crunch

Iran is accelerating repairs at damaged South Pars refineries, with Acting Oil Minister Hamid Bovard saying most reconstruction projects remain on plan but must move faster. During a visit to the Fourth South Pars Refinery, he said restoring lost gas capacity to the national grid is a top priority before winter.

Bovard said the oil industry has mobilized all resources for sustainable cold-season energy supply. Specialized meetings are reviewing each project, identifying obstacles and deciding how to remove them. He expressed hope that by late Azar, corresponding to December 21, a significant portion of lost production will be recovered.

He stressed that the oil industry cannot carry the winter alone. Public cooperation and reduced unnecessary consumption of gas and other energy carriers are essential alongside operational teams’ efforts. Officials say the coming weeks are critical for avoiding winter shortages.

Accompanied by Bushehr Governor Arslan Zare and parliament energy committee chairman Mousa Ahmadi, Bovard inspected damaged South Pars refineries, including the Third, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth facilities. He also visited Jam Petrochemical and Mobin Energy Persian Gulf. The visits focused on repair progress and measures to return capacity to service quickly.
