Hormozgan Non-Oil Trade Hits $8b Despite Wartime Damage

Hormozgan’s customs posted more than 14.37 million tons of non-oil trade worth over $8 billion in the first half of current Iranian year 1405 (March 21-September 21), even as wartime damage hit some customs buildings and infrastructure. The province’s customs supervisor, Hossein Saeedi, said exports reached 13.073 million tons worth $4.066 billion, while imports totaled 1.298 million tons worth $3.988 billion. Customs revenue jumped 97 percent to 1,124,992 billion rials, up from 571,615 billion rials a year earlier.

Saeedi credited uninterrupted formalities, expert appraisal, duty collection and staff working from alternative spaces and in the field. “Customs is a vital link in foreign trade,” he said, stressing that keeping goods moving matters most in crises.

Hormozgan handles nearly one-third of Iran’s non-oil exchanges. Shahid Rajaee Port alone accounts for over 89 percent of provincial customs activity and nearly 47 percent of national customs revenue. Major imports include passenger cars, trucks, gold bullion, mobile phones, petrochemicals and staples; exports range from industrial, petrochemical and mineral goods to carpets and transit trade. With more than 25 million tons exported, Hormozgan remains Iran’s maritime trade frontrunner. Officials say reforming procedures and expanding infrastructure could make it a regional trade leader.
