A meeting between economic actors in Yazd Province and South Korean Ambassador Kim Junpyo has put new investment opportunities and expanded trade relations at the center of bilateral economic diplomacy.
Held at the Yazd Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture, the gathering brought together provincial officials and private-sector representatives to examine practical avenues for cooperation. Mojtaba Dastmalchian, chairman of the chamber, highlighted Yazd’s strong commercial and industrial capacities, saying the province offers promising opportunities for investment in multiple sectors. He pointed to cultural and educational cooperation as valuable, noting that joint events and training workshops could help transfer expertise. Yazd, he added, has strong export potential in tiles and ceramics, copper, welding parts, pistachios, figs, and pomegranates.
Dastmalchian described Ambassador Kim’s outlook as highly positive and said the envoy was satisfied with his visit. He expressed hope for cooperation in medical, educational, cultural, and research fields, with economic activity to follow once conditions allow.
Ambassador Kim, referring to Yazd’s tourist attractions, said the region’s habitability resulted from hard work and reflected the creativity and capability of its people. He said Iran and South Korea can cooperate in political, cultural, scientific, academic, research, and humanitarian areas. Through visits, he added, he had become better acquainted with Yazd’s facilities and potential. Speaking Wednesday night at a ceremony honoring the province’s exporters, Kim said Yazd has a positive future and hoped meeting its economic actors would open more cooperation opportunities.
Governor Mohammad Reza Babaei also met the ambassador, outlining Yazd’s capacities in healthcare, solar power plants, and historical qanats. He cited the employment of thousands of foreign nationals in provincial industrial units as another economic strength and stressed using existing capabilities to expand interactions. The meeting aimed to introduce both sides’ capacities and identify new opportunities to strengthen bilateral ties.
