As Iran braces for peak winter demand, the South Pars Gas Complex has completed scheduled overhauls at its refineries and declared itself ready for maximum, sustainable gas processing. Gholam Abbas Hosseini, CEO of the complex, said twelve refineries make up the complex, with six included in this year’s maintenance program. The work was finished on schedule and in line with safety and operational standards, he added.
The overhaul was designed to raise operational readiness, improve equipment reliability, and ensure uninterrupted processing during the cold months. Hosseini credited domestic specialists, the complex’s central workshop, and local manufacturers with repairing, rebuilding, and producing key parts. Relying on domestic capacity, he said, reduced dependence on foreign resources while supporting production continuity.
South Pars, the world’s largest gas field shared with Qatar, remains the backbone of Iran’s gas supply. Hosseini expressed hope that the refineries will feed the national grid steadily and without interruption through winter.
He also called on consumers to cooperate by observing consumption patterns, saving gas, and avoiding waste. Sustainable supply, he noted, depends on both technical readiness and public discipline. With refineries prepared and domestic expertise mobilized, the complex aims to meet peak demand while protecting supplies for all.
According to the Oil Ministry, the complex plays a strategic role in national energy security. Its output feeds power plants, industries, and households, so any disruption can have wide consequences. The company said the preparations reflect a broader push to maximize domestic capability in the energy sector.
