Iran Banking Leaders Push Coordination, Foresight as Global Financial Risks Mount

In Tehran, Iran’s banking leaders are calling for closer coordination and sharper foresight as global financial conditions evolve rapidly.

Speaking at the third gathering of international relations deputies of the banking network, hosted by Bank Mellat, Abolfazl Koodei, the Central Bank’s deputy for international relations, stressed that the banking sector must prepare for fast-moving international changes and tighter constraints. He said closer ties between the Central Bank and commercial banks—and better use of experts’ experience—could create synergy, produce practical solutions, and support forward-looking planning in cross-border banking.

Koodei described the meeting as a platform for exchanging views on the latest global developments and for drawing on the experiences of different banks. Feedback from bank managers and international affairs staff, he added, would feed into both policymaking and efforts to resolve operational problems.

He noted the Central Bank is ready to receive issues raised by banks and incorporate them into decisions. With international trends shifting quickly, he urged participants to anticipate risks and manage consequences through joint analysis and cooperation.

Attendees raised key international banking issues and proposed solutions. The meeting underlined a shared message: in an uncertain global environment, coordination between regulators and banks is no longer optional.
