In a bid to tackle mounting power shortages and reduce industrial reliance on fossil fuels, two major state organizations have pledged closer cooperation to accelerate renewable energy projects across Iran.
Officials from the Industrial Development and Renovation Organization (IDRO) and the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization (SATBA) met in Tehran to align their strategies and overcome bureaucratic hurdles that have slowed progress in the sector.
Farshad Moqimi, IDRO's chairman and a deputy minister of industry, said his organization is already moving forward with solar power plant projects targeting industrial towns and other regions. "We are seeking to solve the energy problem of industries through diversifying sources and using clean energy," he stated, stressing that synergy between the two bodies is critical for success.
Mohsen Tarztalab, SATBA's head and a deputy energy minister, echoed the call for deeper collaboration. He described stronger interaction between the energy and industry ministries as essential for speeding up project implementation, adding that joint efforts are no longer optional but a necessity.
The talks come as Iran's industrial sector faces recurring power outages during peak summer months, with factories often forced to halt production. Renewables, particularly solar, are seen as a viable solution to ease grid pressure while supporting environmental goals.
Both officials signaled readiness to move from dialogue to action, though specific project timelines and investment details remain to be announced. The meeting nonetheless marks a significant step toward institutional coordination in Iran's push for cleaner, more reliable energy.
