Iran’s Trade Body Expands Global Reach With 215 Exhibitions, 105 Delegations

Iran's Trade Promotion Organization (TPO) has significantly expanded its international footprint over the past two years, issuing licenses for 215 exhibitions and approving 105 trade delegations abroad, according to Deputy Head Morteza Salehi.

Speaking during Government Week, Salehi outlined the organization's four main priorities: developing trade infrastructure, strengthening presence in target markets, supporting exporters, and streamlining foreign trade processes.

On the regulatory front, the TPO has eased order registration procedures, simplified customs clearance, and addressed currency repatriation challenges. Restrictions on tariff code editing for certain registrations have also been removed.

A key achievement has been the expansion of Iran's commercial attaché network. "We have increased the number of attachés in export target countries to better understand local capacities, needs, and opportunities," Salehi said. The organization has also issued initial licenses for more than 10 trade and marketing centers abroad, shifting from temporary market presence to sustainable export infrastructure.

In the exhibitions sector, the TPO licensed 83 domestic international exhibitions and 132 foreign international events during the Iranian year 1404 (2025-2026). Additionally, 105 trade delegations were dispatched to identify opportunities, forge economic ties, and connect Iranian firms with foreign partners.

Salehi emphasized that export incentives must be targeted toward market development and enhancing the competitiveness of Iranian goods. "Export growth is impossible without backing economic activists and offsetting some costs of foreign market presence," he stated.

The organization also prioritized supply chain stability during emergency conditions, coordinating with Customs, the Ports Organization, and the private sector to monitor transport routes, activate alternative corridors, and expedite goods clearance.

On technical and engineering services, Salehi noted that the TPO is actively supporting capable companies to enter international markets. Despite regional tensions over the past year, this sector has shown remarkable resilience—a point he highlighted as evidence of Iran's potential to diversify its non-oil export portfolio.
