Doha Talks Spotlight Iran-Qatar Energy Ties

Iran’s Acting Oil Minister Hamid Bovard and Qatar’s Energy Minister Saad bin Sherida Al-Kaabi met in Doha on Monday to review energy relations and cooperation between Tehran and Doha, Qatar’s Ministry of Energy said, according to Shana.

The meeting comes as the two neighbors seek to deepen economic links beyond energy. On July 5, Iran’s commercial attaché in Qatar, Abbas Abdolkhani, announced that Qatar’s Al Ruwais port had reopened to Iranian goods after about five months, restoring the maritime route from Dayyer port in Bushehr province.

Abdolkhani described Al Ruwais as a key gateway for Iranian products in Qatar. Resuming the route, he said, should ease trade, cut transport costs, speed up supply and raise commercial exchange. Iranian exports through the port include fresh fruit and vegetables, dried fruit, foodstuffs, aquatic products, eggs, construction materials, stone, white cement, mineral products and carpets.

The reopening is also expected to boost activity at Dayyer port and support exporters, shipping firms and supply-chain operators, as Tehran and Doha push to expand trade and investment cooperation.
