Iranian and Tajikistani transport officials have agreed to deepen cooperation in transportation, transit, and logistics, building on presidential-level commitments made during Tajikistan's leader recent visit to Tehran.
In a Monday meeting, Iran's Minister of Transport and Urban Development, Farzaneh Sadegh, and Tajikistan's Deputy Transport Minister, Shayesteh Saeed Moradzadeh, reviewed progress on existing agreements and mapped out steps to accelerate joint projects. The discussions covered road infrastructure, railway freight capacity, port utilization, and air connectivity—with both sides emphasizing the need to make maximum use of Iran's strategic access to international waters.
The two officials explored practical ways to facilitate goods movement through regional transit corridors, enhance cooperation among neighboring countries, and create platforms for boosting trade exchanges. Particular attention was given to expanding air services between cities of both nations, exchanging technical know-how, and examining new rail routes that could increase freight throughput.
Both sides stressed the importance of continued consultations at various levels, including ministerial meetings, to ensure timely follow-up on agreements. The meeting underscored a shared commitment to transforming bilateral transport ties into a driver for broader regional economic integration.
