The third meeting of the trilateral committee between Iran, Saudi Arabia and China was held in Tehran on Tuesday.
The session was chaired by Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Majid Takht Ravanchi, with delegations led by Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister Waleed Al Khuraiji and Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Miao Diu.
The Beijing Agreement, signed on March 10, 2023 with China’s mediation, restored diplomatic relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia after seven years. It included reopening embassies, pledges of non-interference, and expanded security and economic cooperation.
The Tehran meeting concluded with a joint statement signed by the deputy foreign ministers of all three countries. In the document, Iran and Saudi Arabia reaffirmed their commitment to fully implement the Beijing Agreement, strengthen neighborly relations, and uphold international principles such as sovereignty, territorial integrity, and mutual security. Both sides welcomed China’s continued role in supporting and monitoring the accord.
China reiterated its readiness to encourage further steps by Iran and Saudi Arabia to deepen cooperation. The three nations praised ongoing progress in bilateral ties, highlighting the importance of direct contacts and high-level exchanges amid rising regional tensions.
The statement also noted advances in consular services, which facilitated the safe travel of more than 85,000 Iranian pilgrims to Hajj and over 210,000 to Umrah in 2025. The parties stressed the importance of dialogue among regional countries to promote security, stability, peace, and economic development.
The statement also condemned violations of Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, specifically referencing Israeli attacks, including the 12 day conflict in June.
