The US added 228,000 jobs in November, and unemployment stayed at 4.1%, the lowest level in decades. However the unemployment rate among black Americans was 7.3%, which shows the extent to which black America has been left behind in the economic recovery, WallSt.com reported. The 7.3% number seems even higher when compared to other groups. The unemployment rate among Whites last month was 3.6% and 3% for Asians. The rate among adult men (men over 20) was 3.7% which is the same as for adult women. Among the major worker groups, the unemployment rate for teenagers increased to 15.9% in November. The jobless rates for adult men (3.7%), adult women (3.7%), whites (3.6%), blacks (7.3%), Asians (3%), and hispanics (4.7%) showed little change. The number of long-term unemployed (those jobless for 27 weeks or more) was essentially unchanged at 1.6 million in November and accounted for 23.8% of the unemployed. Over the year, the number of long-term unemployed was down by 275,000.
