ACD Keen to Promote Ties

Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Ali Jannati underlined promotion of cooperation among Asian nations in all fields, particularly art and culture, in a meeting with Bundit Limschoon, secretary-general of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD), in Tehran.

Jannati referred to the great history of Asian countries and urged establishment of an Asian cultural union, IRNA reported.

Limschoon for his part stressed the importance of peaceful co-existence of Asian nations and development of cultural and political cooperation among them.

The ACD is ready to help in the promotion of cultural, political and economic cooperation among the Asian countries. It can also help in enhancing cultural and artistic ties, he said.

Jannati said cooperation between Iran and the Asian countries in translation of books, producing documentaries and exchange of art, music and theater delegations should be encouraged. The  ACD is an inter-governmental organization established in June 2002 to promote Asian cooperation at a continental level and to help integrate separate regional organizations such as ASEAN, SAARC and the (Persian)Gulf Cooperation Council.

Since March 2016, the organization comprises 34 countries including all current members of ASEAN and the (P)GCC.
